SIEGE OF FORT RANDOLPH CAMP REGULATIONS
1. Krodel Park is a city run park. Alcohol and drugs are prohibited. 2. There will be a quiet time from 10pm-6am on each night. 3. The native village is for natives and native allies only. Other Euros in the native village will be captives and will be demonstrating such to the public. 4. Interaction with the public and demonstrations of period skills will take place while the public is in attendance. 5. All modern items must be out of site AT ALL TIMES. 6. For campfires you must remove the sod and then replace the sod when finished. Make sure that hot ashes are watered or cooled before replacing the sod. There is one large fire area in the fort that can be used as the community fireplace. 7. You should have a water bucket at each fire pit. 8. On Friday night at 7pm there will be a safety talk along with a run thru of the drama. 9. There will be safety inspections one hour before the drama in the fort for the military and in the Indian village for the Native Americans. 10. If anyone does not submit to the safety inspections they will not be allowed to carry a firearm onto the battlefield. 11. Anyone found impaired by alcohol or drugs before they take the battlefield will be removed from the event. 12. All edged weapons must be sheathed before you carry them onto the battlefield. 13. Any firing of arms will take place in prearranged demonstrations only. 14. Arms should be equipped with a flash guard and hammer stall. There will be flash guards for sale in the trading post and some for loan for the drama. 15. No items such as lead shot, bullets, round balls, etc. will be allowed on the battlefield. 16. No powder is to be carried in a powder horn. 17. All loading will be done from paper cartridges only. 18. Muskets may be loaded with a max of 125 grains only. Rifles may be loaded with a max of 90 grains only. 19. Rammers may not be taken out for any reason on the battlefield. If your rifles fail for any reason and require work, return to the native village or the fort for repairs. 20. Arms when fired are not to be pointed directly at the enemy. AIM HIGH 21. If an enemy or anyone else is within 25 feet of the front of the muzzle of your gun you are NOT to fire. 22. Do not fire if someone is within 5 feet to the side of your flintlock. 23. Visitors are not permitted to handle edged weapons or firelocks. All firelocks are the responsibility of the owners. Never leave them unattended. 24. When a captain or safety inspector orders you to “secure all firelocks’ this means to dump out the powder from the barrel and the pan. 25. Edged weapons, firelocks, bows, camp axes, etc. are not play items for children or adults. 26. Children are the responsibility of their parents.
Our goal of this event is to educate the public on the ways of our ancestors. Please maintain a persona of the period while the public is near. Avoid ‘modern’ conversation topics, or using modern slang. No modern items shall be visible. Cell phones OFF, etc.
